I fell deeply in love with the ruined orangery at Gibside. The tall brick arches with the overgrown garden within was like something out of The Enchanted Castle – my favourite Edith Nesbit novel.
In the autumn of 2018, Owen and I went to Wheelbirks and took some photos in the orchard right at the end of apple picking season. When I see these photos now, all I can think of is how things have changed since Lila.
I’m hoping for more magical, sun drenched days so I can break out all the floaty, dreamy sundresses this summer, even if it’s just for a socially distanced walk around the block. In times like these, it’s the little things that breathe meaning into our days.
