It’s no secret that I have a particularly soft spot for dark florals in autumn. It might not be groundbreaking, but a classic is a classic and I love Oasis’s take on autumn florals this year with their woodland unicorn print. The best known example of a dark floral unicorn print is ofcourse The Unicorn in Captivity from the Unicorn Tapestries, and there’s something about this print that harks back to the image.

When Oasis offered to gift me a piece from their AW19 collection, I immediately set my heart on this print – it was harder, though, to decide if I wanted to get it on the Oasis Curve mini dress or the midi dress from the main range. In the end, the midi won out. I got it in the XL corresponding to a UK 18, which turned out to be a rather comfortable, generous fit on me. I’d initially thought that the material would be a non stretchy polyester chiffon, but it’s a super soft and stretchy mesh instead. I styled the Reggie midi dress with the mustard yellow beret you must have seen me wearing a million times before, black embroidered flats and a constellation purse from last year.

As the evening drew and it got colder, I threw on my vintage faux fur coat that I’d bought from my friend Marie back in the spring. It’s funny how I spent literally years looking for the perfect faux fur coat with no luck and then Marie had a spring clean of her closet and there it was, the perfect vintage faur fur coat, as opulent and luxurious and toasty as I’d always dreamed it would be.

There’s something about the final look with all the pieces that screams eccentric grandma chic to me. It’s a style I adore and am always looking to pull off with this level of success! How about you? Is grandma chic your thing or do you prefer a more age appropriate look?
